Blacksuperheroes: The Documentary

Filmmaker Jonathan Gayles brings you blacksuperherodoc.com which serves up honest and informative interviews with artists and creators in and around the comics industry. Browse the site and listen to prominent artists, scholars and cultural critics and view images from the comic books themselves. This documentary film examines the degree to which early Black superheroes generally adhered to common stereotypes about Black men. From the humorous, to the offensive, early Black superheroes are critically considered.  Find out what creators are doing to re-imagine the black superhero in comics and film.  Also see trailers for shorts like "SHAFT OR SIDNEY POITIER: Black Masculinity in Comic Books", "Enter the Blackage", or "Brotherman Forever".
